Yet imagine that in those ages past, Luther, Zwingle, Calvin, and their
compeers had said, "The world is out of order; but if we try to set it
right we shall only make a great row, and get ourselves into disgrace.
Let us go to our chambers, put on our night-caps, and sleep over the
bad times, and perhaps when we wake up things will have grown better."
Such conduct on their part would have entailed upon us a heritage of
error. Age after age would have gone down into the infernal deeps, and
the pestiferous bogs of error would have swallowed all. These men loved
the faith and the name of Jesus too well to see them trampled on.
Note
what we owe them, and let us pay to our sons the debt we owe our
fathers. It is to-day as it was in the Reformers' days. Decision is
needed. Here is the day for the man, where is the man for the day? We
who have had the gospel passed to us by martyr hands dare not trifle
with it, nor sit by and hear it denied by traitors, who pretend to love
it, but inwardly abhor every line of it. The faith I hold bears upon it
marks of the blood of my ancestors. Shall I deny their faith, for which
they left their native land to sojourn here? Shall we cast away the
treasure which was handed to us through the bars of prisons, or came to
us charred with the flames of Smithfield? | | |

It was a great evening, lots of laughter, comraderie and conversation. As the rolling bingo cage rattled again, the distinguished, grey haired man pulled out yet another ticket. As he called out the ticket number, 0708932 I let out a whoop and a holler and jumped over the 2 people separating me from the aisle. I ran up to the stage, as I screamed frantically and overly expressive in hopes of garnering more than the raffled gift, that had my ticket number associated with it. As I reached the stage the MC, in a father like manner, as if in approval of my exuberance, asked me if I too wanted to hug the 40 year veteran of Film Guru, just like the middle aged lady before me. As I lept to the stage to do just that, my excitement waned for a slight second as I eagerly approached Mr. Murch. I first took his hand, looked in his kind eyes, and exclaimed in a respectively hushed manner "Sir, it is an honor". I then accepted my gift, a boris red continuum graphics effects package, as well as a complimentary training book and dvd, given to me in honor of my enthusiastic reaction, as I walked slowly back to my seat in the large ballroom compiled of more than 1000 Final Cut Pro Editors(thats the software I use), I realized that I had hugged Walter Murch.
Mr. Murch had just got done giving an hour long keynote on his production workflow for his new movie set to be released soon entitled "Youth Without Youth" He spoke of his computer hardware, software and general approach to editing. As he spoke, the level of respect in the room was apparent, the longtime friend of George Lucas, has worked on several Full Length Feature Films in his long and illustrious career. A short list can is as follows:
Jarhead Cold Mountain K19 - The widow maker The Talented Mr. Ripley The English Patient The Godfather Trilogy Apocolypse Now American Grafiti THX 1138
Mr. Murch was extremely gracious, and I am glad I had the opportunity to meet him. And glad to attend the Final Cut Pro User Group Super meet hosted by the Los Angeles FCP Group.
